The Herald Sun today splashed this title
“Fun-loving man, 50, seeks country”
on an article about Peter Costello, current federal treasurer, and PM elect - should the liberal coalition be returned to power this election.
In a related article at wikinews Costello is quoted:
“I would say an election is not over until all of the votes have been counted on the polling day, and I think it will be a hard-fought election.”
Hmm… rocket science this stuff isn’t it? - I seem to remember that quote from somebody at the last election, and probably the election before that… and come to think of it from an election in Britian too!
And another:
“We have to manage our water better, we have to invest in water better, we have to harness water better, we have to price water better,”
The Murray-Darling has been in a crises, in one form or another (quotas, salination problems due to over-irrigating etc), for at least 15 years. And after 11 years of being in government, and nearly 5 years of drought, he’s just figured this out? Please…
Costello’s one saving grace for me is that he’s the best political performer since Paul Keating - and there that comparison ends…
