Bugger me, QE…

March 25th, 2009 · No Comments

“Houston… we have a debt problem…”

December 4th, 2008 · 1 Comment

“We hear you Tranquillity Base, let’s solve it by borrowing more money…”
Is this the madness we are currently seeing?
I must disclose that I saw/heard some commentator make the very tongue in cheek observation that went something like:
“isn’t this clever - the original problem was caused by debt - so lets borrow more money to fix [...]

Gross National Happiness

November 24th, 2007 · No Comments

As I sit here quietly I cant help but be infected by the happiness I feel from, and for, Australians as a landslide victory is inevitable for the Australian Labor Party.
This is not anything to do with my own political colour - I have written elsewhere publicly that I have no in-built bias either way [...]

November 12th, 2007 · No Comments

All the hype was actually a bit of a misnomer - what actually exists, and has just been released as a Software Development Kit (SDK, via Google OS), is an open source development platform for Mobile Phones created by Google called Android.

We may finally be able to do something useful with mobile phones…
Is this important? [...]

Blog Action Day on the Environment

October 15th, 2007 · No Comments

Blog Action Day aims to get everybody blogging about the environment today, 15 Oct.

October 10th, 2007 · No Comments

I’m glad an Australian started this - Free Hugs Campaign.

I do hope the Internet and related technologies help transform the way we exist as societies.
Like Peace One Day…

Bureaucracy gone mad?

October 5th, 2007 · No Comments

Boing Boing is reporting that the Canadian federal government, via their mint, is demanding that the city of Toronto pay nearly 50,000 bucks in royalties for using the word ‘one cent’ and images of the Canadian one cent piece in their campaign to lobby the federal government for a bigger piece of the GST pie.
Given [...]

Fun-loving man, 50, seeks country

October 4th, 2007 · No Comments

The Herald Sun today splashed this title
“Fun-loving man, 50, seeks country”
on an article about Peter Costello, current federal treasurer, and PM elect - should the liberal coalition be returned to power this election.
In a related article at wikinews Costello is quoted:
“I would say an election is not over until all of the votes have been [...]

Nuclear = Terrorist ?

October 4th, 2007 · No Comments

Apparently North Korea has agreed to disable its main nuclear reactor.
I also heard on the news last night that the US is willing to make a deal with North Korea, roughly:
“You disable all your nuclear weapons and we’ll remove you from the ’states sponsoring terrorism’ list”
So if you have nuclear weapons you’re a state sponsoring [...]
