Be amazed by the Internet

I don’t know about others but I am fairly constantly amazed by the Internet: this, in itself, surprises me a little - given I’ve been using the Internet pretty well daily for over 12 years now.
My ‘amazement’ today was whilst talking, via Skype, to my good friend Helen. We (whilst chatting away on Skype - UK to Australia) were both using Google Earth to look at, and talk about things. It just happens I am reading Valley of the Kings by John Romer at the moment. It also happens that Helen is an Egyptologist. So, as we chatted and used Google Earth, we were able to send each other (via email) images and ‘placeholders’ from our respective views in Google Earth.
In this way, literally within 10 minutes, I had this view in Google Earth
Helen had emailed me all the placeholders (the yellow pins). So, as you can see, I could then visualise, and ‘fly around’, the actual site (including ‘terrain’) of the Valley of the Kings near Luxor in Egypt.
Is this amazing? I think so… Do we take the Internet for granted? I think so…
