Data Mining Self-Expression
Aug 18th, 2007 by ShaunO
As self-expression migrates to, or maybe more accurately continues on, the Internet, it will be interesting to watch as new phenomena arise.
I blog and I still think it’s pretty weird – all these people, including myself, writing ‘into the ether’, audiences ranging from no-one to the 1000′s, topics covered from the absolute trivial to the profound, from public news of the day to excruciatingly personal stories.
Another phenomenon no-one would have predicted is the self-expression mecca – MySpace – with over 100 million accounts (1) apparently… It will probably go down in folklore. The whole thing is a bit mind blowing – millions of individuals…
But what about if you begin to ‘collate’ this ‘personal’ space into data-sets? How mind-blowing would that be?
Well, check out some of Jonathon Harris’ work on projects like We Feel Fine or Universe. Better still watch the TED video and let him explain his ideas to you..
