A fly, or an apple, or another war…

A couple of sayings which recently caught my ear
On the nature of people’s heritage and culture…
If a fly is born in a horse’s barn it doesn’t make it a horse
and in regard to inherited features from ones parents…
An apple never falls far from the tree
These can be meaningful to every human being I’m sure.
And on the morality of war…
There isn’t any. A defendable moral position might be the armed defence of one’s own home soil – hell, as a pacifist, I’d even probably sign up to be cannon fodder in that war.
I’ve said to a few people over the years, and I will say it again here – all ‘of age’ teenagers should, as part of the education curriculum, be asked to attend viewings and subsequent discussions of:
and add to the list
These are all brave attempts to honestly tell snippets of stories of the horror, the lunacy, and the waste, that is war.
Watch one, and then try to make a rational argument about the morality of the ‘coalition’ starting the war in Iraq… or Vietnam, or Korea…
