Luverly Sounds

It’s been a while since I exercised the considerable sound reproduction equipment I have. It has long been my standing joke that “I like to have a little bit of lounge room installed into my stereo system”. At around 375 real watts (RMS) - plus a 100W sub-woofer - it is suffice to say that one can reach volumes that you can’t stay in the room with and, at that level, it actually sounds much better a few doors down the road :P
My all time favourite has been the DTS version of the Eagles concert “Hell Freezes Over” - which is a pleasure both for its engineering as well as the performances.

It will now forever have a companion - the August released Jethro Tull “Live at Montreaux 2003” DVD (and CD).
Honestly - Jethro Tull, and Ian Anderson, just get better and better with age. There is no real surprise here - practice makes perfect - and these guys have been doing their craft professionally for nearly 30 years.
I am immersed in the concerts sound as I write this (it will be bad luck if the phone rings or the front door bell goes - no chance of hearing them) - transported to a concert hall in Montreux. It’s technically very nice (both DTS and Dolby 5.1 tracks on the DVD), as well as being a great representative Tull performance, and having a very good track list - spanning Tull’s whole discography.
’nuff writing… too busy absorbing the sounds… this is the only modern surround engineered (Dolby/DTS) Tull I know of - do yourself a favour and buy this DVD.
