Big Tech isn't wearing any reins

and they have already bolted..

1-Minute Read

Peter is absolutely right of course, but, and there’s two massive buts:

  • the horse has already bolted (regulation, to have any affect on the situation, would have had to have been put into place at least a decade ago & would have to have been international)

  • no government is going to ‘be seen’ to be stifling commercial/business/market activity, they’re all too busy ‘worshiping at the feet of market capitalism’ and promoting that outlook to their electorates.

They are two show-stopping ‘buts’.. So whilst this might seem like a nice idea, it probably doesn’t pass the ‘reality test’..

Buggered if I know 😛

Government for idiots?

Parochial minor party pandering..

2-Minute Read

Bridget McKenzie wants to be “respected as the second party of government”..

She needs a reality check.

The National Party holds 6ish % of seats in the reps (House of Representatives, 10/151) and 15% in the senate (6/40) on a national vote take of about 4.5% - yes, less than 5% - last election. So, obviously they are a minor party. They are not 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th of anything, they are less than 5% of the vote.

Ms McKenzie herself is lucky to still have a job, after being responsible for what has widely been agreed was ‘pork-barrelling’ in the ‘sports rorts’ (‘pork-barrelling’ is just a euphemism for corruption). In any other walk of life apart from ‘up on the hill’ she would have been sacked and had criminal fraud charges brought against her.

So what respect her, and her party, deserve from the electorate adds up to virtually zero in my opinion.

More importantly, once again, we find minority representation holding the country to ransom, blackmailing the rest of us, just so they can scrape up enough votes in their home electorates.

This isn’t government in the best interests of Australia - this is shameful parochial party politics treating the electorate like we’re a bunch of idiots..

Australia's abysmal climate change goals

1-Minute Read

Whilst I admire Greg’s tenaciousness in pushing the climate change wheelbarrow, it must be clear to even him “that it’s all uphill from here” because time, and time, and time again, the current government has made it abundantly clear they couldn’t give a flying fuck about the environment.

Whilst the current government prevails, the only things that interest them about the environment is polluting it, digging it up, or cutting it down..

One must presume that this is the electorate’s view as well, because the electorate keeps voting this government in..
