Well I suppose that's OK on the face of it..
But realistically IMO it's little more than posturing, as the deeply corrupt Ukraine could stay in 'candidate status' for decades if the EU so chooses.
Make no mistake, signalling the EU's support for Ukraine is important - it's important for the message it sends to Russia more than anything else.
The EU really is walking a diplomatic and policy tight-rope here, I don't envy the task ahead of them, nor the risks that come with any 'mistakes' they might make.
The Bloomberg editors had some sensible commentary on this matter too.
