Are they meeting treaty conditions?

⊰ 2022-07-06 by ShaunO ⊱

The problem with treaty/membership/diplomacy by 'hope' is that it comes back to bite you..

Arguably Turkey's membership of NATO was always 'a bit of an eyebrow raiser'.. Equally, Hungary's EU membership always represented more hope, than reality IMO.

These countries are effectively (currently) 'soft dictatorships', with a tendency leaning towards full autocracy.

As the geo-political landscape is likely to shift quite dramatically over the next 5 years, serious consideration will have to be given to whether to expel them if they do not (or no longer can, or wish to) meet their original treaty obligations..
