Greens leader indicates idealism is the new religion..

I think I know now what bothers me so much about Bandt (aside from the fact that he's just annoying 😛) - he pretty much always talks in absolutes.

Maybe he should look up the word 'transition', or explain what steel producers are going to use to smelt metals, or why Australia should forego a couple hundred billion dollars a year for next 25 years (when somebody else would step in to fill the market gap with precisely the same global climate impact)..

Absolutes tend to indicate idealism. Bandt also seems to suffer "big fish in little bowl" syndrome. Has he not yet worked out that what Australia does is largely irrelevant to global climate change?

So, he's a minor party, in a minor country, and a country which has circa 1% of total global emissions - that is the entirety of emissions which can realistically be impacted by any Australian policy changes..

Hmmm, so his call is for a more ambitious target than a 43% reduction.. of our 1% of global emissions..

"4 fifths of, 8 tenths of, fuck all" comes to mind.. 😛

If fact, when you put it that way, I'm not sure why we're paying him $200k/year to be in parliament at all!
